The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women’s basketball team will be hosting a Girls Basketball Camp July 10 to 12 at the DMACC gymnasium. DMACC head coach Steve Krafcisin will serve as the camp director with assistance from his staff and players.

The DMACC Girls Basketball Camp is a day camp designed to help girls develop their basketball skills. During the days of instruction, the camp will accentuate the teaching of fundamentals, developing basic knowledge of the game and having fun. Emphasis will be placed on such basketball fundamentals as ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense. Each camper will participate in fun contests and league games with awards presented within each age division. The camp will include free throw competition, bump competition, hot shot, and 3-on-3, 2-on-2 and 1-on-1 competition. In addition, each camper will receive a T-shirt.

Camp hours will be from 9 a.m.to noon, July 10 to 12. The camp is open to girls in the fourth through the 12th grades and will include flexibility within each session based on skill and comfort levels.

The cost is $55 per player and includes the T-shirt. If two or more girls come from the same family, the cost is $40 each. Participants are asked to bring basketball shoes, shorts, T-shirt and water bottle to the camp.
