Social Media & Video Production Coordinator
Hi everyone, my name is Camry Jones & I am back for another semester here at Banner News! I am a….junior? COVID-Sophmore? I am not really sure what to label myself at the moment. This is my third year being a Lady Bear on the women’s basketball team, due to having an extra year of eligibility. I am originally from Milford, Iowa, where I graduated from Okoboji High. If you were to ask any of my teachers where to find me, it was the Digital Media Room! I have a background with broadcasting and video production as we had our own news broadcast called Boji Student News. I am hoping to pursue a career in Video Production and Sports marketing, and Banner News will help me develop my skills to reach that goal. Here at Banner, I hope to bring my knowledge of digital media and editing to the table for a second year to further the success of the student-led news! I am more than excited to get back to work with my fellow classmates and highlight all the great things that DMACC has to offer!
Hello everyone, my name is Alex Loew. This is my second year in the journalism program. I am from Carroll, Iowa, where I graduated from Carroll High School. I have an older brother, younger twin brothers, and a sister who is the youngest. I played many sports throughout high school including baseball, basketball, track and football. I have experience with media production from high school. I was a part of Tiger Vision which is a media production company run by the students at Carroll High. During my time in Tiger Vision, I did a lot of sports broadcasting and sports writing. The two sports I mainly covered for Tiger Vision were volleyball and both boys and girls basketball. I also spent the fall season of 2020 covering football for Carroll Broadcasting. This is my third semester contributing to Banner News, and I plan to pick up right where I left off with another great semester of work!

My name is Mario “Rio” Chothen, I’m a 34 year old father of four who loves most if not all sports. I’m majoring in Liberal Arts and the plan is to graduate spring of 2023. I played and coached high school, arena, semi pro football for 20 plus years. I’ve played and volunteer coached basketball for nearly half my life. I eat, sleep, and breathe sports. I wake up to Fox Sports one or ESPN every morning and go to sleep with those same programs at night. My ultimate goal is to start my own podcast or vlog with sports being the foundation. It’s been 3 years since I’ve been a student and I’m ready to brush up on my skills, finish my degree, then venture out on my own.
