Former NJACC player and coach, Danielle Coronado, has recently been hired to assist head coach Danielle Lopez for the upcoming volleyball seasons.

Coronado is a former Triton, playing two years of collegiate volleyball at Iowa Central Community College. After ICCC, Coronado was a part of Ottawa University and Briar Cliff University volleyball squads.

After obtaining her bachelor’s in sports management, Coronado has coached for the Southeastern Community College volleyball team for the past three years.

“Coronado’s experience playing and coaching in our conference will bring a lot of knowledge and strength to the team,” coach Lopez said. “Coronado’s role on the coaching staff will be helping with all phases of the DMACC volleyball program, including strength and conditioning. She will also be very helpful in the recruitment of future bears.”

Coronado said she is looking forward to using her experience.

“I’ve already been in assistant coaching positions, and I’m really knowledgeable on back-row defense, so I feel like we can really up our game on serve and receive and defense.”

Coronado said she is looking forward to continuing to make an impact on not only the DMACC volleyball program but on all the student-athletes as well. She will also be the new Residents Assistant in building 1307 on the Boone campus.
