The DMACC Women’s Golf team competed at the Northwest Iowa Collegiate Showcase on October 11 and 12. After both rounds, the Bears came away with a third-place finish, trailing only Briar Cliff University and team championship winner Dakota Wesleyan. The Bears were led by Krista Swenson who finished in fourth place with 166 strokes total in both days, each round was 18 holes. The Bears wrap up their fall season with two first place finishes on the year.
The DMACC Men’s Golf team wrapped up their fall campaign this past week. The Bears finished in eighth place at the NJCAA Division II National Preview. The two day, 54-hole competition took place in Joplin, Missouri, on October 18 and 19. Tyler Sansgaard and Logan Barnes were both top-20 finishers, finishing 14th and 19th respectively. Sansgaard finished the 54-hole competition with 233 total strokes. Barnes would go on to finish with a 54-hole total of 234. The Bears wrap up their fall season with multiple runner-up finishes, and a strong outlook on the spring season ahead.
Both men’s and women’s cross-country squads have two meets remaining on their fall schedule. Both teams will participate in the Region XI Championships on October 29 with a chance to compete in the NJCAA National Championships on November 13. Each Bears team recently competed in the Indian Hills Invitational. The women’s squad took home a fifth place finish with their leading runner, Natalie Segura, finishing in ninth place. The men’s squad was unable to compete in team championships due to the lack of competitors, and were only able to enter four runners in the competition. Their top runner, Cooper Skinner, finished in 39th place.
The DMACC Women’s Volleyball team features an 18-13 record on the year, with just one final game to go before the postseason. The Bears will match up against Northeast Community College on Wednesday, October 27. The Bears are hoping to bring their winning streak to three straight as they enter the postseason. They will compete this weekend in the Region XI tournament on October 30 and 31. With the Bears getting hot at the right time, they are destined to make a postseason run.
