This past weekend the DMACC Bears Volleyball team held its first home tournament housing 13 teams. The tournament took place on October 1st and the 2nd, taking full advantage of the fieldhouse and playing four games at one time. The college teams that participated include: Glen Oaks, Heartland, Metropolitan, Iowa Central, Southeastern, North Dakota State, Coffeyville, Ellsworth, Hawkeye, Iowa Lakes, NIACC, Rochester, and Southwestern.

DMACC competed twice on Friday and twice again on Saturday. On Friday, they faced Heartland CC that ended in a loss as their first match of the day. Kylie Welch led the team with 17 kills as an all-around player. Right behind Welch was Abi Maue with 11 and Karlee Timm with 9 kills. Erin Bathe led the back row with 19 digs, Sara Hansen with 18 digs, and Kylie Welch & Rachel Eddy tying for 17. 

Later that Friday, the Lady Bears faced Glen Oaks CC with a clean sweep victory. Kylie Welch led the team with 11 kills and also contributed 7 digs. Karlee Timm added 7 kills to the stat book followed by 5 kills each from Abby Allmon and Abi Maue. Rachel Eddy dominated the back row with 15 digs assisting Sara Hansen to her 25 assists. 

Another clean sweep to start the Saturday by defeating Metropolitan CC in three sets. Rachel Eddy contributed 10 digs along with 4 assists. Kylie Welch had 10 kills and 12 digs from the back row. Sara Hansen dished out 19 assists along with 4 digs and 3 kills. Abby Allmon was right behind Welch with 9 kills. 

The last game of the day was a tough match against Iowa Central CC. The Lady Bears fought hard against the #1 ranked team but suffered a loss. Contributing 18 assists and 7 digs, Sara Hansen was dominant on the court. Kylie Welch added 6 digs and 9 kills to the stat book along with 3 kills from each Ivy Dearstone and Abi Maue.
