DMACC has an annual writing competition where DMACC students can submit up to three pieces of creative writing to earn scholarship or cash prizes. The deadline has been extended to January 31st at 5 PM, so students have about a week to submit.
Rules are as follows:
- Type and title every entry, but do not put your name or anything that connects the piece to you on the drafts.
- Submit up to 3 poems, short stories, personal narratives, or any combinations thereof.
- Each entry should be 6,000 or less.
- Attach pieces separately as a Word or RTF document
Winners get optional awards. Scholarship prizes include a $1,000 scholarship for Summer and Fall 2020 semesters for 1st place, and $500 for runner up. Cash prizes include $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place for each category (poetry and short stories). Winners will also have their work published in Expressions, DMACC’s student literary magazine.
